Assay Spotlight
Plant DNA Content
The Flow Cytometry Facility has performed ploidy and DNA content analysis on a vast number of plant species for researchers around the world. From desert derived wild samples to commercial breeding programs the Flow Cytometry Facility has years of expertise available to clients who are interested in endoreduplication, genome size determination, and ploidy level.
Service Spotlight
Chromosome Sorting
Iowa State University offers researchers the unique capability to sort chromosomes, available only at a few research institutions in the region. The ability to sort individual chromosomes facilitates understanding chromosome structure which is vital to determining the function of genes that reside within them. Following purification, DNA and proteins can be extracted from the sorted chromosomes for genomics and proteomics studies.
